Governance System

Validators: Overview

A summary description of Validators including their role, activities and benefits, participation requirements, attributes, and governance authority.

Summary

Validators are GSMA Operator Member Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) who stake TEL for proof-of-stake consensus (PoS) and manage validator nodes to produce, verify blocks of transactions to Telcoin Network, and earn TEL gas fees and TEL issuance when they secure blocks to the blockchain.

Validators are one of four Miner Groups that share equal authority in Telcoin governance. An individual validator’s political power is based on their pro-rata share of TEL staked for PoS versus other validators.

Validators: Role

  • Blockchain Security: Produce and verify blocks of transactions to the Telcoin Network blockchain. Valid blocks enable network users to transact between peers, self-custody their digital property, and access automated, decentralized blockchain-based goods and services, autonomous (independent) of trusted, third-party intermediaries.
  • Validators: Goals

  • GSMA Standard for Blockchains: Align the GSMA and the global telecommunications industry around a common blockchain infrastructure and shared set of products by empowering GSMA Operator Member MNOs with exclusive rights to participate as a validators and earn TEL.
  • Telecom, Mobile Financial Services: Enable Mobile Network Operators to distribute and benefit from the adoption of financial services at lower costs of operation.
  • User-ownership: Enable Validators to produce, utilize, benefit from, manage the systems they use to conduct and distribute financial services to their customers.
